Let's learn something!  Please join us for a course taught by Mr. Justin Ng of Innerspec Technologies, Inc., assisted by Mr. Eugene Lo of Innerspec Technologies, Inc. and facilitated by industry leading NDT instructor John Nyholt.

Whether you are new to the technique or just want to brush up, we look forward to seeing you there.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course will introduce students to the fundamental theory of operation of Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) based Medium Range UT (MRUT) and Long Range UT (LRUT), including basic bulk vs. guided wave modes, wave generation mechanisms, and differences between EMAT vs. conventional UT. Students will also be exposed to standard EMAT applications for NDT such as normal beam, angled beam, material property measurement, and Guided Wave Testing (GWT) using Lamb and Shear Horizontal Waves for Mechanical Integrity inspection of pipeline and tank corrosion. Finally, students will be given a brief overview of the latest EMAT technology available currently in the NDT market. The course will involve both lecture and hands-on practice.

PRESENTATION TOPIC: Evolution of Robotics in NDT Inspection Techniques

Performing NDT inspections at height or in toxic environments is always a challenging as it requires Rope Access technicians & scaffolding as well as requiring a lot of effort and cost.  Additionally, human safety is always at risk.

These crawlers are capable of working on any surface including ferrous to non-ferrous, toxic to chemical environments and elevated surfaces to inverted surfaces.

Features:

1) Humans are not exposed to heights or to toxic environments.

2) Precise and accurate NDT readings.

3) No scaffolding, man-lifts or rope access technicians required.

4) No more delay in NDT inspections due to bad weather or lighting conditions.

SPEAKER: Rahul Agnihotri, President at Robotics and Scalability Technology LLC

Mr. Agnihotri holds a graduate degree in Computer Science from Delhi University, India. A Data Scientist and Machine Learning expert with over 13 years of experience, Mr. Agnihotri is an ex-Mckinsey employee with exposure to Fortune 500 companies across the globe. After a lot of exposure and consultancy worldwide, he has identified Wind & Energy sector/ Oil & Gas/ Manufacturing as the problematic areas in the terms of performing NDT inspections or various tasks especially in non-accessible areas.

PRESENTATION TOPIC: Pulsed Eddy Current

PRESENTATION OVERVIEW:

The most brutal enemy we face is corrosion. With most of our infrastructure being constructed from carbon steel, the cost associated with our front-line battle to inspect our critical assets is enormous. If we can utilize a tool such as Pulsed Eddy Current to help us make more informed decisions, the cost savings will be exponential.  We can then allocate resources to other critical areas versus wasting it in stripping insulation to only find it was unnecessary. The Lyft from Eddyfi Technologies allows the user to inspect assets rapidly, identifying if and where areas of corrosion are present, helping asset owners make better decisions when it relates to stripping and repairs. All this can be done with no environmental or safety concerns as is experienced with other methodologies.
